Lamarckism and Neo-Lamarckism: Major differences

Lamarckism
Neo-Lamarckism
1.      It is the original theory proposed by Lamarck
It is the modified form of Lamarckism based on modern knowledge
2.      It says about some internal forces, changes in environmental factors and use and disuse of organs.
It says about changes in environmental factors but not due to use and disuse of organs and internal forces.
3.      Only somatic cells are affected so acquired characters are developed during individuals own life span.
Somatic cells and germ cells are affected.
4.      Acquired characters are inheritable.
Only germinal variations are inheritable or where germ cells are formed from somatic cells.
